SECTION 127 INTERNSHIP

Section 127 Internship

My internship at Section 127 was a valuable opportunity. I was not only exposed to a positive, fun, professional environment, but I was also able to build my knowledge and experience by learning from skilled designers. I was exposed to designers from multiple departments, shadowing their day-to-day responsibilities. I had the opportunity to sit in on creative meetings, which gave great insight into the variety of considerations that need to be made (from materials to budget). I was able to create work of my own, including event collateral, point-of-sale campaigns, and print ads. I had the chance to gain feedback on that work and make further improvements, which allowed me to push my abilities as a design thinker. I was also able to grow in my technical abilities in order to improve the clarity of my work.  Exposure to presenting and explaining my design work and thought process to design professionals was one of the most valuable experiences from working at Section 127.

Section 127 Ad Designs

To the right and below are ad designs I created promoting Section 127. These are ads typically found in the Indiana Pacers game programs. While I’m only showing a select few, I explored many iterations. I was encouraged to consider clarity of message and consistency in design. I was also asked to explore how to convey what this company does, both through the photography provided to us, but also in ways that wouldn't necessarily require photographs. I was also asked to consider how to appropriately express the connection between Section 127 and Sport Graphics in some of my designs. All images were provided by Section 127. Any buzz words or tag-lines are ones I discovered on their website in order to keep their message consistent. This work was all spec work.
