Redesigning The Voter Experience
Myself, and 3 other team members, were tasked with redesigning the experience of voting for down-ticket candidates from the perspective of college students. As a group, we needed to quickly identify problems that exist in today’s system and note the desires and goals of today’s young citizens, and specifically our chosen persona. We then worked through an iterative design process to propose and refine a solution. In the end, as a team, we designed an experience map, identifying our ideal voting experience. Each member created their own artifacts targeting a specific stage of the voting process, including registering to vote, understanding who you're voting for, locating and accessing the polling place, and casting your ballot. I focused on locating and accessing the polling place by developing a iPad app page, as well as a pop-up polling van.
Final Collateral Pieces
Pop-Up Polling Van
The polling booths shown inside the van were designed by a fellow team member, as she took responsibility for the "casting the ballot" phase of the voting process. It was inevitable that our phases and the needs within each phase would cross over into other phases of the voting process. We worked diligently to bring it all together.
“Polling Place” Page
While as a team we collectively designed the icons and other key visual elements, as well as the color palette and logo, we each took on a specific platform. I designed for an iOS tablet.
